During their residency in Chiayi, Walking Grass Agriculture kept on hearing that there used to be an enormous pond around the Chiayi Sawmill and Chiayi City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau. This really piqued their curiosity. The "Beisian Lake Autumn Lotus", one of the six wonders of Zhuluo County recorded in The Zhuluo County Chorography back in 1716, and "Fishing at the Log Pond", voted one of the new eight wonders of Chiayi in 1948, are both located around what used to be a log pond. The log pond that once covered over 162,000 ping (over 535,000 sq meters) is no more. However, recollections depicted through spoken words and photographs about the log pond remain alluring and surreal.
From lotuses viewing to fishing, to the waters that have long since vanished, Walking Grass Agriculture followed what traces that still exist and tried to picture from the clues of the scenes that played out in the past as verbally described to us: fishing, doing laundry, swimming, piers, and even drownings.
